Companionship may include conversation, short walks, simple activities, drinks, meals and reporting changes. The helper should be respectful and should not speak to the elderly person like a child.

Mobility, Transfers and Personal Care

The family should demonstrate safe walking support, wheelchair brakes, footrests, ramps, bathroom access and approved transfer methods. Heavy transfers may require two people, equipment or professional guidance.

Bathing and toileting should protect privacy and dignity. Personal-care duties must be disclosed before candidate confirmation.
